What You Will Learn

1. Project Initiation:  Learn to assess the stakeholders and their hot button issues.  

2. Scope Planning:  Learn advanced techniques handling multiple stakeholders

3. Charter:  Develop and present change control processes, and project authority structures. Face a hostile management group in your presentation role-play.

4. Assignments & Estimating:  Learn advanced techniques for estimating including analogous and parametric estimates.    

5. Risks: Assess risks that threaten the project, analyze probability and impact to determine expected value and develop appropriate risk responses.  

6. Microsoft Project:  Calculate resource capacity, work and cost in the software to develop a dynamic project schedule.

7 Schedule Optimization:  Learn techniques to finish early

8. Modeling Tradeoffs:  Develop tradeoffs between scope, duration, cost and risk for stakeholders to consider.  Present in a live meeting and get approval.

9. Teams:  Techniques for handling conflict between team members and develop a conflict resolution strategy.

10. Status Reports, Variances & Tracking:  Variance and earned value analysis on over-runs, model impact of change requests for the sponsor.

4. Practice Every Step and Your People Skills in 3 Role Plays with 1-to-1 Coaching

Practice all the techniques in 14 case study assignments and in private 1-to-1 role playing simulations with your instructor. Work on three case studies from Vailcrest Corporation, a growing organization that’s expanding to multiple states. The three projects are:

  1: Strategic Initiative Project - lead a high-stakes, mission-critical project with multiple stakeholders
2: Fast-track Crisis Project - save the company within tight budget & duration constraints & avoid big risks
3: Rescue a Failing Project - tame an out-of-control project with big problems and conflicts

You will gather requirements, negotiate with managers and make live presentations of your plans and MS Project® schedules. This allows you to practice thinking on your feet. Throughout these assignments you’ll deal with the executives from Vailcrest Corporation, solving problems, controlling changes and reporting status.
