This knowledge area is organized a bit differently than the other ones. However, it is very important because recently PMI is placing a strong emphasis on the importance of managing our stakeholders’ expectations and their engagement in the project. So you can expect a lot of questions in this area. Unlike other knowledge areas, we don’t begin by developing our plan. The first thing we do in stakeholder management is to identify the stakeholders and assess their level of interest and expectations for the project. Once we know who we’re dealing with, we can develop our stakeholder management plan. It will guide our activities in managing and controlling our stakeholder engagement as we execute the project. The focus here is on ensuring that we address stakeholder issues. We identify each of the issues a stakeholder raises and track our performance in addressing them, hopefully to the stakeholders’ satisfaction.
